Ssk For An 85?

Hey guys. I've been seaching the internet for a while now on my possibilities on a short shift kit for my '85 325e. First I was finding that almost all kits that fit an e36 or e30 will fit mine. However, now i'm seeing that barely any will fit mine only because the years starting for most e30's is 6/86 and on. What's the real story?

Oh yeah, and i saw the FAQ about the z4/m3/328 shifter, which I would be up for if it fits right and will allow me to keep my current shift knob. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm doing the Z4 2.5 lever in my e30 today, after reading some reviews it seems
that this one was right for me, not overly notchy, no selector rod bending and a decent reduction in throw, the z4 3.0 is too much of a reduction in throw and requires bending the selector rod. Here's an informative link to help you decide.

installed the z4 2.5 shifter today with the help of 318driver from e30tech.com, he blew through it fast untill it was time to remove the nylon cup that the shifter ball sits in, we drilled it out, all I can say is everyone should do this mod, one of the best things I've done so far, feels like a totally different car.

z4 2.5 SSk

Pros: Shorter throws but not too short
Notchy but in a good way
Precise shifts
Sits lower than stock
Did not have to bend selector rod to clear harmonic balancer

Cons: None, why didn't I do this sooner? ghead

sounds great man! i cant wait to do it....that's if it will fit my car. i still can't find out if this will fit my year or not. i'd hate to order everything (even though its not that expensive) and it not work and have to try and sell them to someone or something. congrats though on a successful instal.
