Spindle Replacement?

Ok, I have a good one for you customizers out there. I have an 86 325es and it has the 4 lug spindles. I've seen some damn nice BMW rims out there but they are all 5 lug. What is easier and or safer? swapping out the spindles from 4 to 5 lug (if this is possible) or some sort of adaptor? A bonus question, when did the 3 series switch from 4 to 5 lug? I am in the market for a later model if I can find a 4 door 5 speed that's reasonable priced.

There are plenty of 4 lug rims out there. Go tirerack.com, or Ronalusa.com. I have the Ronal Ls's and they are awesome. Just look they aer out there.

While there are several really nice 4x100mm rims on the market, there are hundreds more 5x114.3mm and 120mm, and more selection yields lower prices. As far as I know, the M3 was the only E30 with 5-lug wheels. What would be great is to replace your suspension with as many M3 parts as possible, including all the necessary components for a 5-lug conversion. E36es (1992-1998) all had 5-lug rims I do believe, but I'm not sure how well any of their parts would fit under an E30.

Im planning this very procedure...

ill let ya know how the hub goes this weekend.

i blew out a front hub and since im going to replace the entire strut ill check out the difference of struts w/some junkyard m3's or 5lug types...

if its simple enough (im sure the rear is) then we could do this w/simple tools.
