Speedo help Please! - BMW Forum

Hey all.

I am pretty sure I have a short in the wiring for my speedo. I have done several test on the board and I am 99% sure it is a loose wire. Which colored wires are for the speedo?

I'd suggest that you check your connectors at the VSS in the diff.

I have done the following:
-cleaned all connections (long prongs) on the circut board
-checked all connections and on the 26 prong plugs. Wires all look good
-checked connections on the rear. they were bad so I clipped and replaced. Now they are great and new
-re-sodered as many circut board connections that I could do with out causing problems.
-driven car with out cluster screwed in and when ever the speedo would quit I could wiggle the board and it would come to life.

I am 95% sure that this is a cluster issue.. Maybe just a speedo section issue but replacing the cluster seems like the next logical step.

so now I am looking for a cluster to try / replace the one I have.... Please let me know if you have one that won't cost an arm and a leg..
