| Yes, I read the FAQ here and several others but I have some general questions I still would like some feedback on. I'm considering buy a late-80's BMW 3-series, hopefully a 325i or 325is or something with the V6. Manual, of course. Here are my questions:
-What are your feelings with reliability on these cars? I know the reputation of quality but I'd like some real feedback from owners.
-What sort of mileage should I be looking for. Under 200k? Under 100k? I need this thing to last several years. And yes, I will be baby-ing it as much as possible. And no, I'm not going to race it or fill it with aftermarket parts that may limit its life.
-One thing I hear over and over again from friends is that BMW's are great cars but if something breaks, buying parts of it will murder me. Have you found this true? How much are replacement (OEM used) parts compared to more 'common' makes such as Ford, etc.
-I'm looking to spend anywhere from $2000 to $5000 on one of these. How much BMW can I get for this? What's a good price for a well-maintained car of this generation?
-Anything else to look out for on the 325's not listed in the FAQ?
Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated. |
