I'm looking to the top left of the round temp knob. There's this round thing with a little vent-type thing on it. Is this some sort of temperature sensor or something? I can't tell what else this would be for.

Well I was hoping someone else could confirm, but I think it must be a temperature sensor. The user manual says "depending on the temperature setting, warm or fresh air is supplied to the passenger compartment through all the grilles and outlets" and " the temperature of the air entering the car can be increased continuously by turning this control clockwise. The selected temperature will be reached shortly afterwards". This, coupled with the proximity to the temperature control, leads me to believe it is probably a temperature sensor but, again, was hoping for confirmation.
