Slow start

Hi Guys
I have just joined this forum and I am in serach for answers.

I have a beautiful blue 4 door E30 1989 316 M40. I have had it for 5 years and only recently overhauled the engine. It earlier had lost power, had trouble starting on cold mornings and was smoking.

After the overhaul, the smoking stopped but the power did not return. I thought it would after the initial 1000km but was dissapointed. I have taken it to various garages and they can't seem to find the problem. The official BMW dealer did a diagnostic test said the throttle switch needs to be changed. This had been done during the overhaul.

I now think it might be the airflow meter or the injectors, ANY IDEAS?

Strange one.

Fuel lines okay? All cylinders firing? Spark plugs new and clean?

Do you have a cable throttle? Has it slipped?

Distribution cap for the dodgy starts?

It's a bit poo that the BM garage couldn't help.....
