hey guys i was thinking about doing a side exhaust on a 91 325is. does anyone know anything about this? i saw i think an E34 or E36 do it and if you know what im talking about can you give me the site i cant find it anywhere.
i dont think its getto if you do it right. but yes probably illegal but who cars it would be fun to do it to a project car. you think it would be pretty loud and or sound good?
Actually it's half-ass redneck crap, even people in the ghetto would have a full exhaust. Even performance wise it has nearly no benefits, not to mention the heat from it would melt the carpet.
i dont see how its half ass? yes if you have a pipe just hanging from the side. but if you do it right i think it can look good. and it may not do much for performance but it i dont think it would hurt it either. ford gt500s mustangs have side exhaust and same with the ford lighting. and here are two links of bmw m3 race cars who have side exhaust.
Unless it's race only, any street driven car with it would just be a hack.
#1 Because there is no way to seal it, if it went through any kind of water (even a wet road) it would come in the car and cause hot steam in side the cab.
#2 Even header wrap doesn't stop 100% of the heat. I don't car how well ones A/C works it's like having a heater in your car. Plus that stuff starts to fly off after a while.
#3 Anybody that has ever worked with header wrap knows how nasty that stuff gets when you breath the air from wet cooking fiberglass even when you smell it from under the hood. Not to mention having it in the car.
