How much does it usually cost for Short Shift conversion?

there's a cheap conversion out there for 30 bones (or so i got mine with my discount, so it may be a bit more, still cheap).......you use the shifter out of a Z3.....i did it in mine. some tech found that out where i worked. works on my E21, and he had it on his E30 M.......it isn't adjustable like the BMP one, but for a quarter of the cost i will gladly live without the adjustability factor.......i will run down the part number for it.......figure on probably like an hour/hour and a half to install

Do you mean that labor should cost only $30?

no, the labor will be whatever the shop will charge you........and to swap that out will probably be an hour to an hour and a half......so possibly a couple of hundo depending on how much the shop charges hourly


the Z3 shifter piece set me back like 30 bucks, but keep in mind that was with my dealer discount......

I got a quote for $165 part and labor, is that good?

figure about 65 for the part and 100 for the labor, not bad......


go check out www.bmpdesign.com and you will probably feel much better, theirs goes for more than what you would be paying for the shifter and installation....

PS......which z3 shifter you go with? if i remember correctly it could be like one of a few that works.....but i don't remember exactly used
