Shock Mount :( - BMW Forum

Is it common for a brand new rear shock mount to break? Is that why Bavauto recommends getting the convertible one?

I'm not sure what you mean by "rear shock mount"? Are you talking about suspension or the trunk shocks?

He's talking about the mount that the rear shock connects to the body through. Hence the name "Rear Shock Mount"

I would talk to the person you got the mount from if it's brand new... wait, is your car lowered?

OK... then what do you mean by break. I've never seen one break. Are you bottoming out your shocks? It's not like there's a bunch of moving parts in there or anything! I know that the E36's had problems with the actual shock towers tearing, but I haven't really heard of the E30's having any issues on a regular basis.

my shock mounts rattle like you wouldn't beleive.....it's driving me crazy. When I get a free moment I'm going to raplace them...

are the convertible ones supposed to be stronger?

go poly, either ground control or IE, best idea ever....even the Vert RSMs break...

Ahhhh! OK! I now see what your talking about! WTF? What were you doing when that happened? You say they were new? Maybe I will check mine out even if they aren't making any noise!
