the fronts arent shocks, they are struts...easy still...while the car is on the ground use an impact gun and take out the center top strut bolts...if you dont have an impact it gets tough
once those are out, remove the six strut bearing bolts (3 per side) then slowly lift the car up off the ground, this will decompress the springs..put the front end of the car up on jackstands....undo the bottom 2 strut bolts, pull out the assembly....
pull the strut bearing off and pull the spring off...whalah, almost half way....you will need to put the strut in a vice...use some channel locks to remove the strut collar nutt and pull the strut insert out...if its really old it will be pretty resilient to come out but it will....
once the inserts are out dump out the fluid in the strut tube...at this point i usually suggest honing out the strut tube to make the installation of the new struts easier...there is usually a little corrosion in there...
put just a little motor oil in the strut tube but not a lot...whatever extra you put in will just spill out...slide the insert in, reinstall the strut collar nutt, put the spring back on, and at this point you will need a spring compressor...usually about $5 from the local auto parts store to rent...compress the spring, put the strut bearing back up on top and just finger tighten the top nut...at this point remove the spring compressor
install back into the car, lower the car to the ground...now reapply the top 6 strut bearing nutts and then tighten down those Strut bolts with the impact...
