is there like any linkage areas in the shifter that get worn out after driving???
i got in my dads '96 geo prizm today and that thing shifts like a hot knife through butter. silky smooth. my '87 325is just feels like it gets caught or "hung up" and doesnt shift as smooth as it should. especially when im trying to fly though the gears. are there any parts i can replace without messing with the transmission or clutch??? im just trying to loosen the thing up a little.

sometimes the tranny itself doesn't let you shift into certain gears on purpose to protect motor cause my car if im doing 15mph it won't drop into 1st unless i force it in or if im doing 30 and i try to drop into 2nd it won't let me sometimes unless forced

i did notice that when i downshifted, but im talking about speeding up. the thing just doesnt seem to be very smooth. maybe thats just how they were made but sometimes its almost like work to get it into gear when im trying to go 0-60 in 2 seconds. is there any joints in there that anyone ever replaced that made a difference???????????????????????????

there are plastic bushings that do wear out. it gets alot of play out of the shifter, which sometimes prevents you from properly shifting into gear.

Post tranny oil

Ive got same problem.

Shifted fine, up and down, high low revs, missed a gear once a few weeks ago. Now I cant even get it into second when cold.

Cost me a few seconds in an autocross yesterday.

Let me know if you solve it.

I'm going to try and clean/lube linkage.

One guy said try redline racing oil in trans.

My mechanic siad to come by with a 2 quart container and he'll sell me his special mix theyve developed over the years.

I'l let you all know how it works out.

Cheeers,
Richard
