how do you get the blasted stock knob off? I've read your just supposed to sit over the middle console, put both hands on the shifter and pull up with all your might and make sure it doesn't hit you in the head when it comes off...

I swear I've tried this and I'm honestly scared of ripping the whole stick right out of the tranny or what ever it's hooked to....

should I just try pulling it harder?

you have the technique down... When pulling, just aim at your gut... Rather take one in the stomach than the head!

Yeah, just give it a solid TUG, Pulling will only make it seem more difficult than it actually is.

Hope this helps!
