Same Engine???

1988 325 engine and 1988 528e engine

arent these engines the same i heard that they were different but i can swear there the same, are they???

as far as i know they should be the same. bothe should be the super-eta.

i have heard that the exhaust manifolds are different, but other than that, ASFAIK the are the same

the stroke might be differnent if its a 2.5 liter and a 2.8 liter, unless its not actualy a 2.8 liter im not really sure but other then the stroke they're prolly the same.

if the 325 is a super-eta then yes they are the same, but in 88 they had the "i" motor and the super-eta motor in 325s, an easy way to tell is to look where the red-line is, if it is up at 6500 then it is an "i" and it is not the same as the 528. the super-eta red-lines at like 5700 or so

the reason for question is cause i saw a chip for a 528e and heard the engines were the same so i figure i could put this chip in for a super eta.
super eta is a 2.7 6L with 127hp & 170lb.ft of torque & the 528e is a 2.7 6L and 127hp and 170lb. ft torque.

do you guys think this chip will work???

i know for sure the 535i has 182hp and 214lb.ft of torque is the one with a "i" type engine.

yea it will work but why would you ever spend $450 on a chip for a super-eta?

and obviously the 535i has an "i" motor but its a big six, as opposed to the small six that is in a 325i

cause chip really good mod plus can probaly get it cheaper to i heard dinan sells one for super eta thou does anyone know for sure???
