| Hello! I'm actually new here although I've been driving an e30 for about ten years now. The car I've got now is my second 325i (auto 325i, 1990) and I bought it from my uncle at 60K about four years ago (it was his second car so he rarely drove it). I've got two somewhat diverging questions:
1) I'm contemplating selling it even though I just got a brand new set of 16" wheels that I've not even put on it yet. The reason is that my girl and I are thinking of having kids and we once (only once) hydroplaned and she was not liking it at all. It's been rock solid for me since I got it but that @#$#@! one time and she's insisting that it's not a safe ride to have a kiddie seat in. There was a recent report earlier this month about side impacts and that pretty much settled it for her. So I need to either sell it or prove to her that it's a safe car to carry around kids. Any ideas?
2) Here's a kicker. I got a Carfax for my VIN and it says my uncle rolled back the odo which is impossible. The guy's a old Chinese guy from NY, he barely knows enough to buy a car, let alone find a mechanic to roll back an odo to give to his nephew as a gift. It makes no sense. I've been searching CarFax but I have no idea how to get around this. I've got 80K on my odo now and they say I've got 130K. Dammit, I've got a Supersprint on it, winter tires on the basketweave, 16" wheel to install this spring, brand new everything (water pump, wiper pumps, thermostats, hoses, interiors, etc). Should I just bite the bullet and sell the car even with the CarFax report or what? It's killing me! |
