Well if it's not one thing it's another,...........it's always somethin!

I knew that I was going to have to deal with this




sooner or later and I had even considered moving the battery to the trunk (for various reasons that I won't go into) But as the saying goes,the best laid plans of mice and men...........

Well, I just happened to be flushing out the cowling and noticed that rust colored water was running out the bottom of the floor board on the passenger side at the rear seat foot well area. Great, (I cursed profusely) rusted floor boards. Well, I can't say that I should have been surprised (it IS a convertible and I do live on the gulf coast)

Well for the most part the floor boards are actually a lot more solid than I would have thought. The floor board and carpet in the rear were relatively dry,.............but up front the carpet was like a wet sponge.

So where was all the water coming from?..................Stay Tuned.

Oh, but wait it gets better,...............or should I say worse

This is what I found after pulling the insulation from the firewall, and removing the previous half a** repair (fiberglass,......and not very well done I might add)









But wait!..........As the saying goes,............There's more

So there is at least three sources for the water to enter the passenger compartment,............other than the fact that it is a convertible.(But hey it NEVER rains in the Sun Shine State,....................Ya, RIGHT

i don't know about you, but i feel a sell the car and get another one tutorial coming on...that is terrible man, you basically going to have to cut out the firewall and replace it to stay ahead of that...

At this point selling the car isn't a viable option, besides I don't give up that easily.

I'm not done as of yet but not bad for a days work (of course that doesn't count stripping out the interior)

So the question is, should I compile all my notes and photos and do a write up not just on the rust repair, but on other aspects of the build as well?

For example, dash, hvac, remove/replace etc. just to name a few.This is a project car and the plans are for a fairly complete rebuild/restoration (for now) with modifications and upgrades along the way and in the future. If there is any interest in that sort of thing then I have no problem sharing any information that I may have with this forum. If not then I'll just keep my mouth shut and document the build for my own purposes.
