Reversing Lights continously blowing fuses

Hello there.

Im new to these forums, have just bought myself a D reg 318i E30 and it seems fine, apart from there was an electrical problem (which I knew about) where one circuit kept blowing fuses.

This was (fuse 10 I think?) the instruments & reversing lights circuit.

Got my multimeter out, and found out that an intermittent short occurs when I fiddle with the gearbox (ie put it in reverse) sometimes it works tho! :lol:

Is there a common fault on these cars that may cause a problem here?

Whereabouts is the reverse light switch situated?

Also, any links to good cheap BMW parts places around?

I get most of my parts from Bavarian Auto, they have quick delivery and decent prices. I don't know what to do about the fuse problem, I'd just take it to a mechanic and ask them to look at it (not fix it) it might cost like $15 to have them look and tell you but at least you'll know.

Just pulled up the gearstick gaitor...... what do I see? 2 stripped wires. Spot on mate.

Heh, no problem gimpflex. That site has a lot of really good, specific technical articles on E30's.
