Reverse Light Sensor Problems...

I have a 1991 318is and at night i cant see where i am reversing because the lights arent working, i changed all of the lightbulbs cuz that what i thought it was but its a no go i think it may be my reverse sensor but im not sure how to fix it or where or what the hell it is help me out here!!!!!!

If you have a 5 speed the reverse light switch is on the left side of the trans about 2/3's the way up. It looks kind of like an oil pressure switch.
