Hi All,

I currently own a 1984 318i 5-speed, which i purchased from another owner. the original owner's son drove the car without any oil in it so the engine seized up. i purchased a new engine and am currently attempting to install it in place of the old.

i believe everything is connected as it should but there were a few parts missing off of the original so im not sure what exactly im going to need.

Does anyone know of any sites that provide detailed images of the engine and components. i know i need a few hoses, an air intake box, and a few other items. mostly any hoses and there connections along with the proper wiring diagram for the engine harness. (i think everythings connected but i could be wrong)

unfortunately i'm not too familiar with the part names so i cant be much of help when it comes to just listing the parts i need, but if i could get an image list or something along those lines to where i could compare and contrast my car with another it would make things a lot easier. i know im going to have to go to a junk yard to get what i need but not having a car to get around in makes finding junk yards and getting the right parts a lot harder.

this has been a semi nightmare and a dream come true. i love this car but its been so hard finding exactly what i need without knowing the part names and having no real mechanic to help. So if anyone has any information, or any miscellaneous details they wish to add, it would be appreciated

here is what I have done for 15 years and I am serious about these guys....just call 1-800-535-2002 and they will help you. Bavarian AutoSport...they are very good....

Yeah ive been going to the BavAuto site for a while now, they have decent prices for a lot of what ive needed. but what i needed most was a diagram for the engine layout. mostly just to make sure i have everything i need and to see if anything were missing.

So ive been messing around with the RealOEM site along with the BAVAUTO site trying to get everything together and managed to come up with another issue...So my dumb ass thought that the Thermostat was the Idle Regulating Valve and was trying to connect the hoses that go to it, naturally with no luck. thankfully im no where near actually getting the car to start so no harm no foul.

Well turns out my Idle Regulator is missing and i have to buy a new one of those, but now i need to know 100% what the lines going to and from the thermostat look like. i checked OEM and it doesnt give you much about it

as you can see i have no idea what im doing with this car but its been fun learning, at least when it breaks down in the future ill have some know how of waht im doing.

But anyway if you guys have a 318i and you have pictures of it or could take close up shots of the engine lines id appreciate it. just something so i can see where the lines are coming from and what they're going to
