.
its a bearing thing i guess.
when im in motion (in nuetral or any gear above 15mph) i hear a whirring, whinning, machine gear noise and it is a harmonic constant to the speed.

so the faster i go, the higher the pitch is, the slower the speed, the deeper the whirl.

i added some teflon manual tranny when i bought it, quieted down somewhat, but still present.
since ive put thousands of miles and not getting worse, or better.
i would love to find the m3 (4:10:1 ??_) diff. but dont know the importance of my next mod. ive never heard of a differential ever failing.

should it be the
Differential (limited for sure!) should i be concerned?(not seen any posts on this)/
headers (ceramic coating .)
chip.
wheels, lowering will be summer sometime.

The only we did was swap the whole rear end I got a rebuilt one for $125.00 which was realy cheep and as far as warning noises um basicly the noise was getting louder and ocasionaly the rear end would lock up and on the day that it went out it was makeing a kind of clicking sound and then it just went when I went to take off from a stop. If buy some chance you may posibly think its your rear end just pop the diff cover off and check it out. Check your fluid see if there are any metal shavings, check the fluid if its all nasty and kind of broke down change it that little rear end only holds 2 quarts so realy isn't much.

okay

today i decided to cean off the diff and i used a whole can of brake cleaner to make it sparkling (with brushes too).

well i noticed a electrical connector? whats up with that?plugs right into the gearbox.

ill check in the gearbox this weekend...as soon as i get the new gasket.

that little plug that is in the back of the rear diff is for your speedo its magnetic and picks up off of the metal fins that are on the right inside the rear end Also if you live in cold climates with snow some times that plug will get wet and your speedo will stop working so if any of you guys ever run into that problem there is a good place to start
