Rear?

i need a new rear diff. its a 1991 318i, what types of rears will bolt right up and is there any i can put on to improve the proformance of the car. i think my friend said he has a m3 rear on his but im not sure, i just got the car a month ago.

Search around. I think the 91 318is came with a 4.1:1 LSD?
Probably the best bet. check the 318is versus the M3 diff.
I know some guys switch to lower ratios like the 3.73LSD
Some go the other way. depends on application Steet, autox, drag, track, fun, groceries, gas milage etc LOl
I think one 325 had a 4.1 in the autox Sunday and he said he was cranking it up to 4th gear where I was in 3rd. but thats with M20 6cyl

ya the M42 powered 318i's usually have a 4.10 or 4.27 i believe...not much shorter you can go there
