Hi guys,
Hoping someoen can help bring my baby BM back to working order. Let me outline the issue.
I brought the car around March this year, running sweet as anything, so much so, I sold my Escort cabriolet and drive the 316i. It had history up to 45k and after that there is no history. It had 98k at time I got it.
I noticed one not so immediate problem which was it drank a little more fuel, a trip from london to birmingham and back to london cost £30, which I thought was pricey.
I recently asked a friend who is a wizzkid at BMW's to change the Cambelt, PAS belt and alternator belt, which he kindly did. He suggested the reason why it might be drinking too much petrol could be due to fuel pump, so got a new one (not fitted yet!)
After the cambelt had been fixed, the car has refused to start. It has fuel coming into the chamber, spark plugs fine, crankshaft sensor is fine, coil and all fuses are fine. But it wont start! Its not a alarm issue either. The RAC kindly checked it over, and only noticed the following:
When he cleaned spark plugs and put them back in to start it, (it didnt start!) he removed spark plug and noticed they were covered in fuel. I have spent over a week checking fuses and trying to figure out what it could be. Please help.
As to Haynes manual, all fault finding problems for a car that turns but doesnt start have been chacked with no joy.
Can anyone throw some light into this and help me bring her back to life??!
She is a lovely car, recently brought a set of 17in 5 spoke ATP alloys, seems like a waste...
