to day i went to the junk yard to get an alternator. and just as i was ready to leave they were putting a 325 out on the lot .so i went to check it out it was US spec

so i raped the car for the headlights, tail lights ,instrument cluster ,side mirrors, 3rd brake light, user manual (in english) check computer (in english).

and i checked my glass and its all DOT approved except for the back window so im going to get that tomorrow.

now im that much closer to bringing my car to the states with me
and it only cost me $40.

i need to get the decals for the engine bay for the emisions and the belt diagram anyone know where to get them?

i would be that happy if i had to sell my car b/c i couldn't bring it to US without making it US spec and then finding some parts getting it closer to US spec for $40!!

That so rocks! I gotta wonder though how so many fully Euro spec cars get here! I see it a lot!

all the parts will go on just long enough to pass customs then it all original euro parts going back on

I hate to say this but you are not allowed to do the conversion yourself. It says so right in the DOT guide. Been down this road already with my Yamaha TZR500r two stroke street bike. Brought it into US in 95 for race purposes only. sold it to AMA guy for profit.

Was considering bring either my 325iT or my M-tech I car back but it's not worth the hassle to pay bond and pay some one else to put US spec stuff on a car. Adding bash bars in door making it the required height ie no lowered suspensions. Bumpers,

Not trying to dissuade you but be realistic. As GI's we don't get paid to much and a old 3er is not a classic. If you had an EVO II or a Cecceto or M3 cabrio then it might be worth the cash.

you can do the conversions yourself but you have to a certified person check the car out and verify the conversions were done.

Nope can't do it yourself. I have talked directly with them. And it still needs to be sniffed and has to pass as though it was new. Not a used vehicle, so it needs to conform to a high and low speed duty cycle sniffer test.

If you could do the conversion yourself alot more of US GI's would be doing this. I sold my 93 M5 3.8l just because of this.
