Need your opinion -
I have seen performance chips for sale on ebay priced from 39.00 to 90.00.
The same seller advertised Dinan chip for 90.00 and the same 'no name" chip for 39.00.
What should I look for to warrant the price difference?
Are these chips worth getting? I know I need to put in higher octane fuel but I'm will ing pay the higher fuel price if the performance difference is significant enough.
Your thoughts fello bimmer enjoyers????
I would not buy any chip on ebay. Spend the buck now on a chip thats proven to work well in your car. Turner Motorsports has good chips for $250- $300 the $300 chip is re-programable so you can update the chip as you modify your car ensuring the best power balance.
The ebay chips are knock-off's and if you get a bad one you F..k your car up!

I got a "Dinan" chip off ebay for 60 bucks. IS it a REAL Dinan? I don't know but it sure made my car a lot faster than it was before.

Hey, mysticguy04, is the chip you're thinking of offered by a memebr named x_gen_performance? If so, that's the guy I got my chip from. I wouldn't pay 90 for it though becasue you can probably get it a lot cheaper if you just start bididng. Like I said, I got mine for 60.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I am happy with it. I noticed the change in performance instantly, at all RPM ranges, right up to the new 5200 RPM redline. Knock off or not, this chip brought out the beast in my ETA. It's the best 60 bucks I spent on my car.

Did you install it yourself?
Is it pretty easy to install? Did you have to make any other adjustments?
It is fairly easy to install. Takes about a half an hour. However, the guy does not send instructions with these chips but you can find directions easily enough online. I did not make any other adjustments. Pretty much plug'n play.

Hmmmm.... now I am more in doubt than before!! lol
I'd say go for it... 60$? hell yea. and it cant do any permenant damage to ur car... and if ur car starts to act up, and u suspect the chip, u still have the old one u can swap in to see if the chip really is faulty. I do not beleive, though, that a chip can merely 'go bad' after a length of time.... its just a peice of silicon.
I've had the chip in for about 3 months. And about the chips messing up your car in a year, that sounds like BS. An engine either runs properly or not and you would notice it immediately. Got any hard engineering facts to back up that fable?
