Quick Question - BMW Forum

i have a 1987 325is with the 2.5L and i was lookin at some
stuff on here and i just wondered how much is overkill on that engine.

ive seen tach's in some e30's that only go up to 5 grand and the tach in
mine rev's up to 7 (6500).
any ideas?

If im not mistaken, the ones that go to 5 grand are the 325e's.

the e's are made for city driving, and they are limited at 5k. all the other 6 cyls are 6500, i believe

Yep, the 2.7L eta has the 5 grand tach.

The 2.5L has something like a 6500 redline, and cutout at 7 I believe? Thats what I remember reading anyways.

Yeah, the ETA is awesome around town. Torque to the max.

I have an ETA that redlines at 4500 but with the DINAN chip, the redline is increased to 5200. The 'i' engines redline at 6500.

this statment is technically true only cause the super eta has a 2.7 and tach goes to 6 redlines at 5500

i have an 88 325is

6500, cuts out at 7
