Push Button Ignition

Can someone clarify the push button ignition setup for me? Here's the Bentley diagram:

I am eliminating the steering lock/ignition switch (race purposes) therefore, I need two switches - a toggle for power (accessories/on) and a momentary switch for starter.

Currently, I *think* the way this needs to work is that:

the two violet wires get twisted together and put to one side of a toggle switch. The other side gets the constant power (brown w blue and red).

The brown, black with yellow and green go to another switch (momentary) for the starter.

But that's about as far as I've made it...And it's not correct either. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm confused. And what about ground? Where would that go? Thanks in advance,

sounds like a great idea i dont know to much about the subject but doesnt the ground just have to go to something metal> such as drill a whole in the car somehwere got a ground? like when you hok up an amp for subs....

I dont know how much help it will be to you, but I recently did a push start on my e36. There's a DIY and pics on it in the FAQ section. It might help answer some of your Qs.

I actually read it and studied it before posting. It was helpful (and well done, nice job!), however, I'm looking to do away with the factory ignition switch altogether, and unless I'm overcomplicating the issue, it seems a lot more difficult than just putting a switch inline to the starter since I will have to add the "acc/on power switch" and then feed that to the "starter" switch.

I keep "seeing the light" and then running into a roadblock. I might have to just take it in to someone...
