i have always just kinda gone easy on normal brakes or BBK's (big brake kits) when first installed for about a week, after that i figure the pad material has plenty of time to transfer to the rotor evenly, then its time to head to the hills and cook em up nice and good like they are meant to be

my new pads squeeeeeeeeek......I hate it, hate it, hate it when brakes squeek......what can I do to solve this?
the guy at Bavauto said these were the least likley to squeek, that's why I bought them.....
I went with Pagid.......I should also say that I did NOT get new rotors or turn the old ones.....the mechanic guy who helped me change them said I didn't need new ones nor did I need to have them turned.
I also followed all of your guy's advice for breaking them in...
You put new pads on unturned rotors? ALWAYS turn the rotors when installing new pads. With out the fresh surface to mate to, the new pads will conform to the old surface of the rotors, and develop hard lining. In other words a fine layer of crystalized pad is created when against the smooth surface of unturned rotors causing squeaking. To correct this you have to have the rotors turned and the new pads scuffed with 300-400 grit sand paper then cleaned with brake parts cleaner and a wire brush to remove any sand.
