problem with my e30 - BMW Forum

anybody who could help me with my e30....it stalls,,,jerks,,,and i could feel the brake pedal kicking before it stalls....this usually happen when i'm on a red light...brake sometimes is hard,,,sometimes soft...
i already replaced the fuel filter, air filter, rubber elbow connector between the oxygen sensor and throttle body...stalling still happens though...
is this a problem with the throttle position sensor???

have had a few cars other than BMW's usually when a car stalls and the brake pedal changes in feel it's a vacuum problem. Usually the one going into the brake booster, those grommets tend to dry out, either that or the fitting itself may dry crack, either way I would take a can of WD-40 and spray the vacuum lines from the brake booster back, when it revs it's narrowed it down to at least that.

could you please tell me the exact location of those grommets in the e30 '87 model...thank you again...

Warren, the brake booster grommet as you are looking at the brake fluid reservoir is to the left of it coming out of the brake booster behind the reservoir. This is assuming you have power brakes. I found this manual on this site, there are a couple others you can download too,but I found this one to be the best thus far. it's a decent download size but worth it. Copy and paste into your browser. The other manuals are at the top of this class specific forum, they are excellent repair manuals

You will need the password when download is done and you open it for the first time. Hope this helps.
