powersteering retro fitted - BMW Forum

hi guys
i have a 1986 E30 318i - this year the power steering was not factory fitted. Is it possible to have the power steering retro-fitted?
Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated

It's possible, however it really depends on how adept you are mechanicaly.

it wouldnt be the easiest thing to do but it is possible... if you do it make sure to post a DIY on here... id like to see how its done... btw

Probably possible using parts from a later model 318, but it would still be quite a project and not worth the work/money IMO. Only time you really need power steering anyway is at low speeds (parking).
