I got a 88' e30 conv. My PW's for the most part roll down fine. Its on the roll up that I get a "stop and go" action. I have to press some of the buttons more then once to get them up; some worse then others.
To correct this situation were should I target......I opened the door panels and there is nothing physicaly wrong which is leading me to believe it's a electrical problem with the buttons.
Well I would first start with cleaning off the contacts on the actual button assembly. To get the button assembly off all you need is a flat head screwdriver and then you just pry them up. Once you have them off, take some sandpaper and clean up the contacts.
Why don’t you just swap the switch from the best window to the worst if the better window work better with the better switch then it’s the switch and if not clean and lube the runners then if you still have a problem you are looking at motors
^^ That's what I did. I switched them when one started acting up. I haven't cleaned the contacts yet, but plan to in a couple weeks when I replace the passenger motor. :wrench
I do have to say....I pried the switches giving me problems; dismantled and cleaned them. At first when I put them back together my windows were still acting funny....but weeks later now they are moving better then they have ever before! :werd:
