PLEASE READ 1992 318i convertible clutch problems

So i have a 1992 318i E30 M42, my throw out baring started making noise so i bought a Sachs Clutch Kit. I took my old clutch off and installed the new one. When i was all done the noise that the throw out baring was making was gone but now when i pushed the cluch pedal down all the way to the floor it would make a grinding noise. I took it out for a drive and it still shifted and had no other problems. So i figured that i put the clutch disk on backwards. So i took it all apart again and turned it around. I satarted it up again .........same exat thing except it seemed like i could push it in further without grinding noise. So now i am stuck and think that i might have the wrong clutch, but every where i go online shows the same clutch for this car. Also the fly wheel seems fine so i have no idea what is going on.

I have a 1992 318i E30 M42 and i recently started hearing noise from my throw out baring. So i bought a Sachs Clutch Kit. the fly wheel was fine. I replaced the clutch and got all ready to start it up. So i started it and the noise the throw out baring was making was gone. But when i pushed the clutch pedal all the way to the floor it made a really bad grinding noise. so i took it for a drive and every thing else was working properly and i could still push the clutch in enough to shift. so i figured i put the clutch disk on backward. So i switched it around and started it up........still the same thing but it seemed like i could push the clutch in a little more without the grinding noise. I figured out that it looks like the side of the clutch disk that faces the front of the car looks like it is grinding against the fly wheel bolts. So i thought i could have the wrong part but i looked every where online and it looks like i have the right clutch. My old clutch is a Getriebeseite and it looks pretty much the same as the sachs.

I farmed out my clutch replacement (91 318i) to a garage. I did get the old parts back: the original clutch disc, ugly looking release bearing, and a pressure plate that had three of its metal fingers broken. Prayerfully your new clutch disc wasn't wrecked by what you described.

I put in a clutch stop (eBay purchase), so I don't bottom the clutch pedal any more than I need to shift. Perhaps that will help as well.
