Please help me - BMW Forum

I own a 89 318i (euro specs), my car has been running perfectly, until today. Today at noon I noticed that my car took longer than usual to start, then when I got off work, my car wouldn't start, it was like the battery was dead, so I got a set of jumper cables and jump it, it started with no problems. I get home and let it run for a while, then I try to start it again and it would only crank for a second and it will just stop. Now, I thought maybe the battery is dead again, but all my electronics and lights work when I turn the key, but the car won't start. I am not familiar with bimmers, so I don't know if its a coil problem or what. Please help me!!

bad battery......benz was doing the same thing just last week. your alt. can put out enough juice to run your electronics and charge your battery while you are driving....but if the battery is bad and is not accepting a charge then it won't crank. i would make sure your ground strap is tight and in ok condition then if that checks out i recommend battery replacement.

Thanks, it was the battery gone bad. I replaced it and it starts nicely.
