Hey everyone.

This is me right now. This morning I was visiting the local motorcycle store, checking out some prices and things, and I had only been parked for about five minutes when this guy walks in and says "Hey buddy, I think your car just got creamed."

Oh fuck.

Here's what happened. A 1 ton Chevy pickup, driven by the maintenance supervisor, ploughed into the rear end of my 325e with enough force to push the car six feet backwards, with the parking brake engaged. My entire rear panel is dented to hell, and my driver's side taillight pretty much oblitterated. The passenger side one is cracked and broken, but not so much a mess as the left hand one. The light tray won't stay in, so I've lost my lights on that side. Also, curiously, my running lights (brake lights at half for night driving) are out both sides, despite the brake light on the passenger side working. You can literally reach into my trunk through the hole. His trailer hitch took a nice bite out of my lovely chrome bumper as well, a good solid 1 inch impact with some metal cracking and breakage. The panel the rear lights and licence plate are attanched to are really screwed, and I think the force busted out my rear subframe mounts, because the car doesn't handle as well as it did before.

I'll get pictures as soon as possible, but I'm fucking pissed. How in the hell do you completely disregard a car right behind your truck? This is a prime example of why I hate drivers of larger vehicles who have no fucking reason to be drivng a vehicle that large, and then, don't have the common fucking courtesy to watch what they're doing.

Oh well, he got his ass reamed six ways from Sunday by his boss. I enjoyed that at least. But I have a few questions. There are some pretty bad creases and shit in the sheetmetal around the light and license plate... I wonder if they can pull it out, and if not, what panel gets replaced? And about the lenses and chrome bumper, how difficult and costly is it to find such parts? I'm curious, even though the bastard's insurance is paying for it.

I apologize for my anger and overuse of the word fuck in this post, but I'm just so god damned pissed off I could probably bite through the bumper myself.

Grrrr.

Dude, that is majorly messed up. I had something like that happen to me when I got my first car. I was on my way to getting it registered, and stopped to get directions. When I come out to the parking lot, my rear bumper has been deformed irreparably, and my rear quarter panel doesn't look good. Hit and run . That same day, my roomate's car got hit also. Also a hit and run. The positioning of the damage suggested it was a large vehicle. The coloring of the paint residue pretty much proved to us that it had been the Coca-Cola truck, which aparently hit a third car on campus that day. I am overly enraged by stupid drivers. I hope it all works out as painlessly as possible for you.
