One that's been beaten to death!!!

Ok,
Engine was Idling high (1100-1200 RPM). Pulled the ICV and cleaned about 20 years worth of crap out of it. Dried it off. Re-installed it. Now when my car warms up (a minute or two) the idle starts bouncing up and down. Exactly the problem I was trying to avoid by cleaning the ICV. Where to go next? THe car is an 84, and I'm still learning about all of it's sensors etc. Next step the O2 sensor? Boy I hope so as I really can't afford to buy a new ICU....

THat's where I was headed next - after I remove the CAT. Don't need it, don't want it....No emissions checks here!!

It's amazing that the PO's just let this thing sit because they were too lazy to do the brakes!! Now I've got to fix all the crap that won't come back to life....


Fluids look great. Oil must have been changed before it was parked. I do intend to change it out anyway, but no evidence of H2O anywhere except where it's supposed to be in the motor.
