Driving along last night, it sounded as if my car was idling higher than normal. I pull in to collect some petrol, and lo and behold, she wont start. Eventually get it bump started, and then drive some more. I can start it now, but the idle is at 2000rpm. What can I check? 325i 1989 btw.
Isn't there a small pipe branching off the air intake before the throttle butterfly? That would lead you straight to the ICV which in turn is connected to the intake manifold.
Not being able to start a car can have like a zillion reasons. electrical and mechanical. Need more info.
Get the Bentley manual! Haynes and Chiltons are CRAP by comparison! I bet you could get one from Ebay or Amazon shipped to you down to Capetown. Shipping might be a B**CH, but it would be totally worth it for the knowledge it offers!
