Oil Service & Inspection Light reset? - BMW Forum

I just purchase a 1986 BMW 325es.

I need to reset the lights.

Any instruction that would save me the $$$$ in buying the tool
would be GREAT!!!!

yea this topic has been covered a bunch of times....

here's a thread on how to reset it:

inspection light

in there I posted how to make you own tool....

if reseting it doesn't work work then the batteries on your SI board might be dead....(some say it's a simple $10-20 fix to replace the batteries....or a new board will run you $120)

Yeah, lets just reset the light cause you never really need to properly service the car.

That way to reset lights is quick. I do it all the time. My car however was starting to fall apart and had to start replacing one part at a time. Only thing left to do is get a new front valance, get rear brake pads put on along with brake pad wear sensors and figure out where the water is getting in before my driver's side floorboard has me doing a Fred Flinstone when I hit the brakes.

I did have it serviced at the XpressLube and they did not reset the light.

But, I do agree with you....it is sad when people do not take care of their cars.

An oil change is not the same as an Oil Service.
