intercoolers are for turbo or supercharged engines...do you fit in this category?
and i think you by purging you are referring to the water injection similar to that found on the evo 8. what that does is inject water into the intake manifold to cool the compressed air charge further so that more boost can be run.
Actually this is not an intercooler at all if you look it is the oval ring. And by purging i mean the effect where you spray. have you seen fast and furious 2 where he spray stuff out of the sides of his :wink skyline, that is alo considering purging.

Be very careful about believing anything technical from Hollywood.
You could buy a transmission oil cooler or something if you're concerned about heat for some reason, most 325s come with engine oil coolers. It wouldn't be too hard to just fab some compressed-carbon dioxide system to shoot stuff out of your fender if you really wanted to. Not functional for anything.
the ring on the front was suppose to be a nitrous kit and cooled the air for the intercooler and the purging was also suppose to be nitrous...both...FAKE...AND HORRRRRRIBLY GAY

the nx ntercooler does work, has been dynoproven time and time again. most people use co2 since it is so much more economical. i'd rather run water or alcohol injection myself.
real, the evo8 uses an intercooler sprayer, not water injection.
