no start

I have an 1987 325is. There's power going to the relay but no power at the fuel pump. Checked wiring no problem found there I have a wire with a inline fuse running from the battery to the pump it's self to keep me on the road for now. But for some reson when I put power to straight to the internal fuel pump the external one works also

Any idea's?

that's an interesting question cause my 1998 325i doesn't have 2 fuel pumps, my 1986 635CSi does but the 325i just has the one in the fuel tank....hmmmm

I know its hard to figure which relay is which but they do go bad up on drivers side inner fender.
also can be some weird extra hidden relay under the dash that may run the fuel puim poff the ignition look and see if you can find that maybe, cant remember but is was some weird hing in 86 87 not int he 88 and on I think.
the wires on top of tank get cracked and break too,do a continuity test,maybe
