hey guys i have a 1988 bmw 325i and i was just wondering what the stock horsepower and torque ratings on it would be.

Closer to 168 Hp/167 lbs-torque. I feel your pain man. I couldn't find these figures anywhere, but there are some good sites with the specs of our car. I'll posts some links later for ya man.

thanks guys, i searched forever and the only thing i could find was something that said 188 hp and didnt have the torque numbers...i guess it was wrong

no. e30's have M20's with 168hp, e36's 92-95 have M50's with 189hp, 96-00 M52's (2.5L 323) have 170hp, and 2001-on have M54's with 184hp

hrmm thats odd i never knew that, why would they go down to 170 on the 323? Im assuming they lowered compression so you can use regular gas, but i thought you could use regular on all 325s of any series...

compression was still a high 10.5:1, but more restrictive exhaust and intake manifolds, among other things, took away the top end that the M50's had, but it gave the M52's a lot of midrange and an improvement in tq
