I just bought my first E30 (1990 325i) and need help changing the air filter. I know that you are going to say buy the Bentley book- I know, but I just can't afford to shell out the cash right now so I turn to you. Why is it that this simple task seems so confusing to me. I don't want to just rip into it since I am not that familiar with the car yet. I would appreciate it if someone could help me through this- it would really help my ego out- I keep telling my self - it's just an air filter.

it is just an airfilter.... the air box (follow the intake to the big black box) and then there is 3 or 4 little metal tabs that you push off then you lift the top off and pull the air filter out and drop in your new one.

If its anything like the 84 318, there is also two little nuts that you needs to loosten for the airfilter box thing to lift off. they will be pretty close to right above the left front fender, if i remeber right, they are abut 2-4 inches apart i think. Chris---

thanks,
it appears to be the same in the '90- that was exactly what I was concerned with- I didn't want to just have it with out some advice.
