New Hood - BMW Forum

A couple days ago some a-hole in a Ford F 150 decided that he was going to reverse his truck into my hood. So now I am in the market for a new hood. I have already looked at original BMW hoods and after market hoods. The after- market hood costs about $150 less. So my question is this, Which hood should I go with? What would you guys do? So is there any differnce between an after-market hood and a Bmw Hood, besides the fact that one is made by BMW. Thanks

I'd get the original replacement. If you look under the hood, there are a few places where stuff gets really close to the underside, and I wouldn't be comfortable trusting that kind of proximity to critical engine parts to anyone but BMW.
