Need Help.. Need To Heat Intake To Start - BMW Forum

hey, lookin @ buying an 87 325 but the owner says he needs to use a hair drier and put it in the intake to warm it up before the car will start, and then as long as the car stays warm it will keep starting up just fine but if it cools back down below opp. temp it wont start again. I just want to know it isn't an ecu prob. cuz that will be diff. to fix. any sensor you all can think of that it might be?

Maybe the car's cold start valve is shot...I really have no idea, it seems kind of odd to me?!?!?!?!

my main question is, who the fuck would have even thought about trying to put a blow drier into their intake to try to start their car... unless he was trying to supercharge it with the "blower"......but yea, i'd check the CSV and check that its working.. without it the eta has a hard time starting to my knowledge.

the MAF has a heat sensor in it, and there are a couple temp sensors in the thermostat.
