Need Help - Just Lost Oil Pressure

i was just driving along and the oil pressure light came on, i pulled over but couldent see any oil leaks and the oil level is halfway between full and empty. i started the car again and drove it home, the light kept dimming every 2 seconds and then going brigth again (but didnt completly go out). the car is a e21 323i

any1 know what this could be?

ok so when the car is cold the light stayts off.. its gets to operating temp and the light comes on, so im guessing its something thats worn in the motor... an ideas?

ummm there has to be a sensor that regulates the pressure, or else there would be no way for that light to come on. you could pray for the best and hop the sensor is going... which might be since the light was dimming etc... hopefully you arent losing pressure car is getting old though!!.... keep us updated...

On a lighter not when i read the title i could see it all and i thought it was going to say i lost my oil pan... haha i was going ot be like how the hell!

it is probably your oil pressure sender. if it didnt have any oil pressure you wouldnt have made it home

if that were the case why would it only come on when the motor gets hot
