Need Estimate On Power Top Repair

Does anyone have a guesstimate on what I owuld be looking at (parts and labor) to replace the power top motor on a 1992 325ic convertible top?

Only the motor??I'd say about 200-250 tops.But I'm really just guessing.I think that sounds reasonable,if not a bit much.

labor = 2-3 hours if they know what they are doing

so probably around $450 total parts/labor is a safe buffer. just ask the mechanic if they will install parts not purchased through them though, i know almost no mechanic will install parts not purchased through them.

Hi there,
Do your self a favor and don't bother fixing it. Convert to a manual top. I know of almost no e30 cabrios that have power tops that work or have not had work done on them! The motor is just the start, sooner or later you will run into more costly repairs. I'm sure if you ask most mechanics they will tell you that the e30 power tops left much to be desired. ghead
I converted to a manual and it's no problem. Takes 30 seconds to put the top up & down!

do what this guy said, the retro-fitted e30 conv. top almost never work right and break often
