Need code for stock BMW raido.

Does anyone know where I can call to get the anti-theft code for the stock radio I just got for my 1986 325es? The BMW dealer where I am insists that I "have" to bring my car to them and they "have" to remove the radio themselves.

Sorry, I'm not driving my car to the local (50 min away, one way) BMW dealer so I can pay 50 bucks (5 times what I paid for it) to wait around for some numb nut to find the time to waddle out and remove the radio (that was never installed) to get the number off the radio (that I already have). Being that it's this old, it shouldn't cost me a thing to get this code. But they keep giving me this sob story about how they are going to lose their job if they give out the anti-theft code over the phone on a 18 year old tape player that I'm not sure even works.... It's a safe bet that this is no longer a hot item on the black market. Can anyone help me out? Me > <Dealer

Call information on a saturday. Ask for any BMW dealer except that one. Get ahold of parts. This may take some time to find one that is open. Tell them you just replaced the battery and need the radio code (take your radio out and get the serial number for refernce) and your dealer is closed. If they have a heart they will give it to you.

Go get yourself a BMW-friendly aftermarket deck instead. The BMW factory decks are so pathetically horrible when it comes to sound quality, it is not even worth the 10 minute phone call to your local squealer.

Decks (IMHO) that compliment the BMW interior:

Nakamichi CD-400 (best for factory look!)
Kenwood KDC-MPV5025 (color-changing to match BMW amber illumination)
Kenwood KDC-MPV8025 (color-changing to match BMW amber illumination)

And you'd never think that an Alpine would look good, but with 512-color spectrum variable button and display colors, this deck is definitely welcome in my bim:
