i have a 91 318i and i just recently did an oil change i live in texas where it can b hot one day and cold d next during fall n winter i just recently added castrol synthetic 10 w30 should i change brand and weight or is dat oil good
Maybe you should try the synthetic in 5w30 it will give you more temp fluctuation room. I dont know much about the meaning of _w__ But from what my dad's mechanic says that tHe lower the first number the more fluid it will be at lower temps and the higher the second number the more protection at higher temps. So I use 5w40 Schaeffers synthetic in My 525i. You guys let me know if I am right.

dude just check your owner's manual, it gives different weights of oil that are appropriate for different temperature ranges. I use 15w50 in my 95 325i, it is a heavier weight, good for older engines. Mobil 1 synthetic by the way
ya i checked it but idk haha dat crap gets confusing but ya it has 170,000 miles mayb a heavier oil will help
Take what the owner's manual says and up it a weight.... like if it says 10w30 go with 20 w 50
