first let me start off by introducing myself... name is rich and live in NJ. currently own a 1988 Audi 90quattro and am lovin it! i am a mechanic going to school to build hot rods and performance engines. basically i love cars..not just any cars, german cars. Audi's and BMW's. i am getting a 1987 325i (did alot of work on it so the owner is givin it to me for $500 since i did all this work) and i have a few ideas.

i love old school stuff. its not me, i dont think i am some kinda rapper..i dont want a caddy..but i love old school hot rods. so my ideas are this... being different with my bimmer. i want to cut the springs... modify the shocks so they dont explode..just the ride will suck. but its gonna be awesome. also i want to do a lambo door to this car. its gold and has the BBS mesh rims (same rims that were on my audi before i got the 1995 90sport ronal rims). gonna be sweet... also thinking of frenching the headlights cuz i love that look. i want to know what kind of engines can be swapped into this car...engine/tranny combos...i can do fabrication work..no worry... now before you get all upset and think i am messin up a perfectly good BMW..im not..infact i have been workin on my friends e34 tuning the crap outta it tryin to push 300... so far i have chipped it, done as much exhaust and intake mods as i can and now am tryin to figure out what else i can do before i have to stick a supercharger on that ish and run it at 6psi...

so there ya go..my names rich. i want to know what engine/tranny combos can fit in the e30.

s50 and m50 and m52. For a harder swap you can stick in the v8 from the m5 if you have that kind of cash and experience. You can stick in a small block 350. erm... thats the immediate ones i can think of.

Good luck with the e34 but i highly doubt you will push 300. At least if its a 525. The m20 is only good for about 270 hp max with a street runnable set up.

the e34 is a m60...running about 240 with just the chip..dunno about my exhaust mods and intake..i still have yet to port and polish the hell outta the heads and manifold...gonna see what kinda gains i can get from that...now what kinda chip options does the e30 have? just want something out of the ordinary... well not too out of the ordinary cuz if i try to hard to be different ill still end up being the same as everyone else! hah! it must be gettin late

Rich, what part of NJ are you from, and what do you think about turbocharging your E30?

im in manalapan..and i have nothing against turbo'in the e30... i would def be up to it.. my friend jay and i have been working at building a e30 track car and enter SCCA (jay drives, i build) so anything to get some extra pony's. my initial plan was to strip the e30 (not the gold one..another one we may pick up) and i was gonna fab up a roll cage that meets SCCA specs, then lighten the crap outta the car...get some performance suspension parts, replace all bushings with a harder poly bushing (control arms, tranny mounts and rear diff mounts, sub frame bushings...the works) then swap in a e30 M3 engine. looking at some OEM clutch's that are larger can be bolted up the engine tranny combo. for example, on my audi i am using the stock flywheel but a S2 clutch and RS2 pressure plate (stock is 228mm clutch while the S2 disc is 240mm and the RS2 pressure plate has a whole lot more clamping force) now my only concern with the turbo is i dont want to have to run only 12psi max... i wanna really push it so who sells lower compression pistons? or do i have to have them custom made (along with rods)?

Jim Conforti chip is real good. Its adaptive and such, atleast thats what I hear from everyone. and for gettin more ponies, I can only suggest replacing the engine and such. and weight removal or whatnot. and wider/bigger tires will help a lot(but you probably know all that already). got any pics?

Instead of swapping in an e30 M3 engine you'd probably want to go with the e36 M3 engine because of availability. The e30's are pretty rare to find one, much less a crashed one to steal the engine from. I don't know what either of the swaps involve though. I've seen a few e30s with e36 M3 engines in them online.

maybe u can be the first to do so. Start a thread and start posting pics on your moddes and how its turning out

that would be very cool, and it would give other ppl ideas on what to do with there ride too!

first...this forum is just as great with responces as the audi forums...anyway... pics= i guess i can take some..right now the '87 325 is in my friends backyard..lol..just chillin till i pick it up! the other e30 jay and i wanna race is across town..and jay isnt sure he still has it (but we still are gonna get an e30 to track) but i do have pics of my 90quattro (and soon to come pics of my 90fwd..nothing special there tho... :-/ ) and that forum log thing sounds like a good idea! just ill start it once i get my car! lol right now i am in the middle of tryin to get my audi back. it has been impounded after i was arrested under false charges and they wont release it to me! if ya wanna hear the story i will tell..its interesting and there are bound to be some lawyers reading this and i would like to hear what they think just one more q's... how do you load pics on this forum? do i have to do the whole '[img]blah blah[/img] thing?
