The steering wheel is OEM! the 1988 325IS came with the M steering wheel as part of an available package. However the steering wheels did not have the M stripes at the lower edge of the center pad that were on the M3. The stripes that have been added to the dash and the steering wheel seem to be a bit bright, but some may like that.
I do have a question. I believe that there is an
M for BMW Motor Sports performance, but
M3 is the factory build performance car! If someone is taking their 325IS and are building it up for performance with
BMW Motor Sports parts and accessories, what is the problem with displaying the
M performance logo and
colors? If BMW did not plan on you using these parts for build ups, then they would not make the available for the public or the
M logos, they could have required proof of
M3 ownership for parts purchasing. Racing as I understand is a large part of BMW Heritage and Image!
I have considered putting the BMW Motor sports
M logo on my 325IS in the future as I complete more upgrades, but not the
M3 Logo
