pain in the ass to make auto into stick. i've never done it on BMW, but on chevy trucks, nissans, and datsuns(sic). You have to chop a hole in the floor, mount new clucth pedal assembly, all additional hardware. basically, PAIN IN ASS. Besides, IMO if u live in a city, auto is better. BTW VERY NICE CAR!!!!!!!!!

give the question of what kind of abuse the auto tranny can take, about 2 weeks when my turbo is done. Right now with my ignition and other tweaks my car puts out about 195hp, after the turbo it should be around 260-270ish.
HOWEVER, im not sure if they use different clutch packs/gears, but the Land Rover v8's used the same auto tranny as our e30s for quite a number of years, and they put out alot more torque then our engines do, so it should be able to handle anything you can *realistically* through at it.
Just use a good fluid.. I flushed my radiator and put in redline ATF. Expensive but good. Tranny shifts alot better in all conditions, and the full synthetic fluid is alot better at handling high temps.

what kind of springs your car rides on?

i use tokico springs.

how much?? and you use tokico shock and springs?

tokico shocks and springs. i spent like $400 for them on ebay.
as a daily driver for your mother i'd recommend eibach springs and new factory shocks. it'll lower it and give it a slightly more agressive ride but it wont change much in regards to ride quality.
