I was looking for a fun car to drive, something that was manual and RWD. I saw an '81 320I for sale on Craigslist for $500, but no picture. When I showed up, I saw this:
Came with a trunkful of parts and the factory repair manual!
The rust worries me a bit though:
It had new tires/clutch/waterpump, but needed the rear wheel cylinders rebuilt and rear shocks, as well as the rust repair, so I offered him $350 and he took it. Not a bad deal, but it'll all depend on how I can fix that rust.
Anyway, just saying hello. My thought was to try and turn this into a daily driver for the summer at least, and maybe do some AutoX if I got real crazy, just for fun.
The temp needle got into the red a couple times when that radiator hose split. What are the chances damage was done, and how would I check that possibility? Don't want to have warped the head, although that would give me an excuse to do some upgrades...
Sorry I didn't say anything about it. I moved the thread here because it looks like you could use some technical advice. This is the best place to get it for your car.
Sorry about that. My bad.

No worries. Just wanted to make sure I was playing by the rules.
