So yea. I had a fun day yesterday. I thought I'd have oodles of good kharma..
On my way to work there was a house that was on fire and I pulled off the road and ran up to the house and made sure everyone was out safely..
Satisfied as I drive away, I think to myself that this is going to be a good day...
Then on my way home to work, I suddenly smell old fish... and think to myself for about two seconds "oh, thats odd..." before realizing that the only thing that smells like that, is hot radiator fluid. I look behind me to see a long trail of fluid going down the road god-knows-how-far behind me. My expansion tank had just cracked in half along its seam.
I'm out of coolant.
Then my water pump siezes.
Needless to say, this day just got alot worse.
Then the engine sputters and stalls about 2 seconds later.
Put in a new water pump, expansion tank, flush the fluids in the engine, and wouldn't "Good Karma" give your car a new lease on life? Or did it completely seize up?
Either way, that really blows. Sorry to hear it man.

The engine is pretty cooked. It turns over but just sputters and dies. It isnt healthy, and its just an excuse to buy the e39 540i I've been wanting. :P
Question: You've got two rides listed in your avatar. Did you cook the '89 325i or the '85 325e? *whimpers* Hope it's not the '85, with the classic bumpers and everything. Would make me sad to know there's one less of my car out there.
540i eh? Well that'll go frickin fast. You have fun with that car.

the 325e burst into flames last summer due to an old cracked fuel line. its still around and isnt damaged(except for the hood sound proofing material, it was ignited for all of 10 seconds), but ive raped it for so many parts that its not really worth putting back together.
the 325i was what just pooped itself. im not sure what my plans are, im going to use this weekend to assess its damages and see what can and cant be saved.
and yea, the 540i i test drove - drove like a raped date, 1999 540i sport. not sure if i'll get approved for it, guess i'll hear from the bank monday.
Y'know, I wonder if the V8 from those cars would fit in the E30. I see to remember a Car & Driver from long long ago with a Hartge conversion of an E46. They dropped the 4.5L in there. Fast? Hehe, you don't know the half of it. But curiosity makes me wonder if it would work.
Maybe I should stop having scary thoughts.

my gauges never changed.
the temp sensor after i had parked started freaking out but NOTHING changed while i was driving. no check engine light, nothing.
just smelled coolant, and about 5 seconds later the engine sputtered and stalled.
as a heads up...
the coolant "low" sensor never went off because coolant was constantly flowing over the coolant sensor because that was where it had leaked from. the engine temp sensor never rose because its dependant upon the temp of the coolant to tell your temp sensor to raise or lower. if theres no coolant, it doesnt know your engine is cooking.
It was probably running like hell due to the temp change, that'll whack everything out, ya know? Coolant temp sensor, very important player under the hood, if he is not happy nobody is!!!!!! Good luck man
